I have been asked by one of our operators to draw up a mould for a fish lure. Does any one out their have a solid works part of a fish that I could modify to suit?
Unusual question but a change from the serious stuf.

Thanks in advance JimP from Scotland

Jimp178,

A fishing lure...huh, and I'm a fisherman why didn't I think of that. That would be a fun project. Why can't I get fun and interesting jobs like that...;-)

What kind of lure is it?
Top Water, shallow runner, or deep running lure?

I don't know of where one is, but I might try it like this:

I would start out with a point on one plane and offset another plane and place another a point there. Between those points I would have multiple planes with ellipses on them. I would then put some guide curves with relationships to the ellipses and connected to the each of the points.

Then loft them all together to get a semi-body of a fish. Since it's a lure you really wouldn't need the tail or fins. Unless your going for that look. After that I would cut to fit. Slowly working out the body. Of course all metal parts would be separate, but then again that could be a single part.....Interesting!

Well have fun with it, and if I can be of more help just let me know!
Hope that helps, Scott Baugh, CSWP :)

Thanks for your quick reply it is a shallow runner.
I tried drawing it up in Mastercam using points and generated a loft surface which is not to to far away, but I would prefere to have a Solid works part as then I can easily make a mould. He also wants a tail nothing is easy.

Thanks again Jimp
