Hello Guys,

I am working on Autocad and there is this requirement i have which is like i have multiple material of different sizes all can be assumed to be rectangles of multiple size. I want to put them compactly in a bigger rectangle with a minimum spacing between them. (See the attachment for clarity) The Rectangles can be oriented in anyway to fit in the best within the boundary. Is there a work around to do this simpler? Currently i am moving and pasting and iterating by myself to fit better.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Santhosh

Your attachment didn't stick, so I can't see what you mean exactly.
However, if I understand what you are writing, this sounds like a geometry problem like fitting pieces of a puzzle together. The way you have described it as rectangles is extremely abstract. If it's not really an AutoCAD problem, then, just a shape-fitting problem, then the solution is one that you can work out using your own built in graphics processor - by that I mean in your own brain. Iteratively, if necessary, until you develop intuition about these things. No computer can offer intuition. You have to build that yourself. We all learn it in different ways. Good luck.

Hello Sparweb,

Thanks for your reply.
I am Really Sorry, I thought my attachment went in as I have uploaded it.

I have a requirement something like the Blank Sheet size of 2000 x 1500 mm in which I have to fit in the required component in a better way such that it utilizes maximum blank material and gives out less waste material.

The required component sizes will be differing like 526x245 mm 3 nos 213x217 mm 5 nos Something like that. And also that I would have to maintain a minimum of 12.7 mm spacing between them to create a layout.

Santhosh

The above image will give you a bit more clarity.
