A user had posted a question in 2009 in this thread: thread561-246063 which we also ran into recently. I wanted to share the resolution.
The basic problem is if you are installing a new version of the Siemens UGS license server, and you try to first remove the old one (by using Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs), you might run into the following error:
"Repair will not work. You must remove and reinstall"
After which the UGS Licensing entry is still in the Programs list, and you can't successfully install the new server. Quite troubling, to be sure.
Well, a quick call to GTAC solves the problem. Apparently there is an issue with the MSI package, and Microsoft has created a special uninstall utility to resolve the issue. Either Google "microsoft install cleanup utility", or go to this link:
and download the file: msicuu2.exe
Install it on your server machine, then launch it from the All Programs menu. You will see a list of programs; scroll down to find the UGS entry. (NX6 license server is something along the lines of UGSLicensing2.0.0). Select it and then click "Remove". The utility will remove it, and clean the MSI so that you can install your new license server without problems.
Cheers, and thanks to GTAC for quickly helping out in this situation.
