On a sanitary sewer project currently under construction, a new manhole has developed a slight leak between the gasket and the pre-cast concrete manhole wall. The manhole is 13' deep and is located approx. 125' from a creek; current ground water conditions are high. The inside of the next manhole downstream, closer to the creek, is completely dry.
Don't know if the leaking manhole was vacuum tested after dewatering operations were removed. If so, ground water pressure may have contributed to failed test(?)...although depth isn't excessive.
The Contractor is asking if Avanti AV-202 is an acceptable "fix" for the leak. We've allowed Avanti products on previous projects with varying degrees of success. But in a small majority of applications, it degrades after 3 or 4 years and we're back to square one. For leaky manhole joints, we've previously allowed Red-horse and Spectrashield, but the current leak is between the rubber boot and concrete manhole wall.
Any comments, suggestions or recommendations?
