Fixed Length Segment in Route

I am not able to set my desired fixed length to a segment of a route. I know that the length is almost 3 times as large as the distance between the two clips I am trying to apply the fixed length too but I am getting the warning message that "with the direction and magnitude specified, the spline length is not possible".

It is one spline with no split or spline points between where it is fixed at two clips.

Any suggestions?
