Flame Hardening Worm Gears.

Flame hardening worm gears, question is how far beyond the lowest part of the last thread is it necessary to flame harden?

Really it depends how far the contact is. I do not think you need to go past the last thread. We do flame hardeh out worms. We just harden to the threads unless applications call for more strength in different part of the worm.
