Hello all,

Can anyone help me as to how I can create a flange as shown in red ink(image attached).
I am unable to select the edges if I try adv. flange.
any other solutions.
Tried using sweep but there was a problem at edges where they were overlapping.
Regards

We never use the Sheet Metal module for brackets - I'd have added that lip earlier in the model history if possible. I'm guessing that isn't an option?

With the flange this will not be a 2d Break Press part anymore. So model a skin surface and use Thicken Feature to get the formed/drawn model.

If you design it with cutouts and extra material for the original bracket bends, you could do it in sheetmetal.
If you need that red flange area to be continuous around the bracket, then it becomes a draw stamping and not modelable by the sheetmetal package.

@ Tim, at place where I work my seniors always insist on using sheet metal workbench for brackets since they'll be made that way.

@ Micheal, I tried that and it works upto a cetain length of the flange after which there are distortions in thicken. Though this is the best solution till now.

@ Ben, I wanted it to be continuous. So are you saying that it can be done in modeling workbench? No ofence, I am new to sheet metal w/b so I though it could be done in sheet metal and stamped...

Thanks

There should be a valid reason for it to fail, most probably some undesired radii overlapping. You will need some surfacing skills to overcome situation.
