Hi

Has anyone had any direct experience with Rotabolts.
I have used them, with great success on approx 6 or 7 applications, usually on high pressure / temperature or on large diameter main body flanges which have been incorrectly designed and suffer from rotation problems.

I am involved in a debate versus the accuracy / ease of use of Rotabolts versus Hydraulic Extension in conjunction with the nut spinning method

Does anyone have any views on this matter ?

Are there any lovers of the Rotabolt system out there ?

I haven't used the Rotabolt as such, but have used a similar device that was around for a number of years and used by a major chemical company on troublesome heat exchangers. They quite using it and the company that made it, essentially for them, went out of business. There is still an occasional request for the original style with a “tension indicator rod”. I talked to some fastener people and several said they had inquires but no buyers.

Looking at the brochure it looks pretty good. I still would use good judgment on any application form
both the engineering side and the cost benefits.

Let us know how it turns out
