Your question is not clear to me. Maybe you could give us more information about your specific situation?

"Break-Out Flanges" (or Spools) are normally a maintenance related item. The flanges them selves are not different, it is just where and why they are needed.

yes, i am not clear too but our contractor just ask for its service.
for your info, this is flange management service contract for new platform fabrication. scope of work is flange management is bolting, flange break out, hydrotest and flange repair. i never hear before for flange breakout, and no explanation further after googling

Thank you

What you describe as "bolting, flange break out, hydrotest and flange repair" would seem to indicate that the contractor is undoing the bolts, separating the flanges, removing the spool, performing a hydrotest, and repairing (resurfacing?), if needed, the flange.

I hope the contract also includes reinstalling the spool!

P.S.: To what address can I send my engineering work proposal? My TPS reports are second to none and I'm sure you would be interested. We'll figure out exactly what a TPS report is after we've signed the contract. [Just kidding!]
