I was trying to design Tongue & Groove type flange for shell & tube type heat exchanger at 1.5 Bar pressure & 110 degree tempreture. But ASME B16.5 don't have any calculation details for that much low pressure.
Please help me out for this calculation.
Thanks

IF your designing this flange yourself, what (kind of) data did you expect to find in B16.5, i.e. what are you specifically looking for?

Thanks for your genuine reply.
But i am searching method to find thickness of flange lower than class 150.
in ASME B16.5 formulas are not given to validate thickness.
I am looking for basic formulas to find thickness.
If you have anything regarding it please share.
Thank You.

There are other standards than B16.5 for flanges, in terms of lower pound class ratings, though Im unfamiliar with those standards.
What benefit would it have for you anyway? Also, is this a custom flange, or standard flange?
What size is your flange?

Flange thicknesses in B16.5 are, afaik, kind of empirical. Not hard defined through formula.
It seems you might be on the wrong track here, but a little more details from your side will help us helping you.

I suggest you contact and look up these guys
This sort of thing has been undertaken many times before and HX flanges are a bit of a weird thing which are often custom designed AFAIK and don't conform to such things as B 16.5, which results in much bigger flanges.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Aaditya Gadge most PV design Codes have rules for flange design. Most PV design software implements such rules. See Sec VIII, Div 1 Apx 2 for example.

B16.5 flanges may be used for HX body flanges as well, if the tabulated rating meets the design conditions.

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
