Hello guys,
I am required to design a 24-inch 300 lb nozzle connection on the top head of a process column for installation of a shell-and-tube HX. The data is as under.
Col. Dia. = 1067mm
Height = 22535mm from ground to top tan line of tower.
Des. Pres.= 400 psig
Des. Temp.= 350 deg F (MDMT -40 deg F)
Wind Vel. = 100 mph (UBC loading)
Earthquake= Zone 4 (UBC loading)
HX = 24 inch x 216 inch BEM Type
HX Weight = 1700 kg approx. (Empty)
As per my understanding, this nozzle connection qualifies for FEA based design and WRC-107 calculations are not of much use. Please comment.
Moreover, when doing FEA, is NozzlePro suitable for this scenerio or should we go for ANSYS or similar?
Waiting for replies
Regards
