Can anyone tell me what the tolerance is on the height of a raised face? I cannot find this called out anywhere in the ASME B16.5* "Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings" standard.

*Reference Figure 7 or F7 in the standard.

Thank you in advance for your help.

The height of the raised face is a "normally supplied" or "recommended" type of dimension - it is not specified as a required value. If you are asking because you are machining the surface of the flange, then I would accept a 1/16" RF (on classes which have a typical 1/8" RF new). I would consider going lower if the opposing flange RF is closer to typical values.

I don't think the 2006 edition of ASME PCC-2 deals with it. The 2008 edition (look for it in the second half of 2008) will address this directly.
