This is just to replace my old thread about a free flange spreadsheet.

Everybody interested can download a copy from

Please download also the readme file and the comment file, to see any comments on possible errors received from others.

I still get frequent mail requests, but I have changed e-mail adress, and I have lost track of all recipients, thus not everybody have received updates - thus this new thread. Also one user comment revealed that I had introduced an error during a version update (calculation of gasket width) - for this reason everybody with a version older than 4 should pick up a new copy.

Please post here if the comment may be useful for other members.

Mogens,

I did not go through all the details. However, the external load directions are not clear either on the spreadsheet or on the flange drawings. Giving orientation of x, y and z or definition of the moments ( line bending , torsion etc.. )could be sufficient. We may still find what they are, but it is better to see clear definition of input.

It looks very comprehensive. But I would write a spreadsheet for each type of gaskets by including gasket table and nubbin width calculation in them.

Is it possible to put an option for the codes. You may use the same spreadsheet for example for B31.1 and others. Of course it requires database for the other code allowables.

I know the hardship of doing that, however it would be useful for other code users as well.

Best regards.

I agree There should be more explanation for orientation of the flange.
The orientation of the flange is the axis of rotation, i.e. if the flange centerline is along the x axis - then type x.

It would be possible to pickup values from other codes, however this would take some time, and quite some amount of typing. Similarly it would be nice to have DIN type flanges in the dimensional database. I can't tell when this will be.

regards
Mogens
