Hi,

I want to make a drawing for pipe flange (slip-on type). Details as follows:

Size: DN3000
Pressure: PN16 Bar
Material: Mild steel
Flow medium: Water

Doubt: What thickness I need to give for this flange? Since this is a very big size, most of the standards have not mentioned about the thickness value.

(Note: Regarding flange drilling details, I can refer to the valve drawing)

Please share if you have any calculation sheet for this requirement.

Thanks in Advance

It's big, therefore it is a nonstandard standard.
Leave some space for them, like 10cm or something. Field verify.

A black swan to a turkey is a white swan to the butcher ... and to Boeing.

Are you drawing the flange so someone can make it or just indicating it on the piping drawing?

If drawing for manufacture then the flange needs to be designed.

7016,

You appear to have a flange that you need to mate to from the valve, so this gives you the BCD, bolt sizes (M64?), number of bolts and ID.
A drawing of that flange/ valve would be good to see

You need to look at which design code you use (which is??) and what your flange material is in terms of strength etc.

But this flange is HUGE and at PN 16 the forces are enormous. first thing I would do is make sure you really need this flange rated at 16 bar or you could design it for something lower. this is a one off design so you can design it to anything you want. Heat exchanger and Pressure vessels also have the same issue.
forging something with what is likely to be 70- -100mm thick flange isn't easy, not to mention how you actually weld it to a 3m diam pipe or even transport it.

Try this and also the TEMA website
