My thoughts (please see attached pics):
1. The separation occurs below window. The separation does not occur at wood siding-brick veneer transition at intersecting wall.
2. There is no window sill flashing visible in the open joint between the bottom of the window sill and the brick. See in pic #5 that my picking tool detected only pipe insulation. I did not see any flashing with a drip edge below the soldier coursing.
3. There is no flashing with a drip edge atop the brick soldier coursing (at transition of wood siding to brick veneer adjacent to window).
4. No elevated levels of moisture detected at interior wood paneling below window.
Without flashing beneath the window sill, any water that gets beneath sill is not kicked out from the wall assembly. Instead, the water migrates into the space between the inside face of the brick veneer and the wall structure. The migration of water leads to possible deterioration of any brick ties that may be present. Deterioration of brick ties leads to brick veneer pulling away from structure.
