For those of you who do not already know - a .flataix1 file, or anything that is supposed to be a Chrysler package file, but has a file extension that you do not recognize, it is a simple conversion. I have posted this link as a flataix1 FAQ

Please share this information with any supplier who receives data from Chrysler.

Ok so I have looked this over and I have a question. Say you don't have Catia, because oh I don't know.... you hate everything about it. Then say you recieve some of these .flataix1 files and you want to translate them to something you can read... Can a translator actually convert these to readable files such as .iges & .dxf files? Or do you have to continue to spend money having an outside source translate it for you?

If you have the ability to translate a .exp file with any third party translator, you can translate these files. However, please note that .exp files may sometimes contain more than just one file. There may be multiple .model files, .session files, possibly even project tables. You won't get all of that with the non-Catia translator. (at least not the ones that I've seen)

The post was really intended to be of the most usefulness to people who already have Catia, and have been refused the information to translate files for which they have already paid for the tools. (it's an unethical practice)

Yeah I understand, this just happened to be an oportune topic as I was just struggling with this issue. Our outside translation house was able to translate our files for us, which were table files. The problem though, is they lost all the drawings and said they could not be translated clean. They took it from V4 to V5 then to a .dxf, I think they lost some associativity along the way.

It may be that they didn't have the project tables for the files, which is quite common. No project tables = no text in the drawing.
