Hello Everyone

When I try to make a drawing of my flat pattern it would not show the flat pattern, only when I delete all of my sub assemblies. I tried to make a random part as sub assembly, but does not work as long as there is any sub assemblies. I have made a master drawing but when I try to make the flat pattern it makes another file of the same part, which makes the flatpattern.

I use NX 11.

The first 1EX in the list, the one with the plain yellow cube icon, is the actual component that you added to the 1EX_dwg1 file. This component is what you see when you switch to the modeling application (when the 1EX_dwg1 file is the display part). The second 1EX, the one with the yellow cube on top of a drawing, is known as a "drafting component". A drafting component will show up in the assembly navigator when you reference a view from another part; when you add a base view to the drawing, you can pick what part to pull the view from. A view added to a drawing in this way will only show up on the drawing; it will not show up as 3D geometry when you switch to the modeling application, nor will it show up in a parts list on the drawing. When you create a flat pattern in the 1EX file, NX creates a new view and creates the flat pattern as view dependent geometry in this view. When you add the flat pattern view to the drawing, you are pulling in this view directly from the model file; NX isn't really creating a new component, but it shows this new icon in the assembly navigator so you can quickly tell if a drawing is pulling views in from other models.

Thank you for explaning this.
Bur I still have a problem with the flat pattern not showing.

Where do you want to see it, as a view on the drawing sheet in the drafting application or as 3D geometry in the modeling application?

As a view in the drawing sheet. I have choosen the flat pattern view, but does not show anything.

When ( Not after) you place that flat pattern view, make sure that the layer on which the flat pattern resides is visible and selectable in the drawing file.
You should see a preview.
Else check what layer, in the model file it's on, then go back to the drawing file , "Ctrl+L" make that layer selectable and try again to add that View.

If the view is already placed, make that layer selectable and use Layers Visible in view to make that layer visible in the flat pattern view.

Tomas

Hello Tomas

I tried but I just get a warning that the Flat pattern drawing is not up to date. But it works if I delete the sub assemblies I have. Also it works perfectly if I do it in NX 12 but not in NX 11.

Hi Christian,

my ideas to let Flat Pattern disappear (on purpose):
1) Double click on the border of FP view (Settings) and unselect the FP lines.

2) Or Ctrl+W and Hide All

It was because the NX update was not 10.2.11, as the earlier updates does not work properly with Flatpattern.
