Flexibility for SS Braided Hose?

Hi guys. Any of you ever seen any published flexibility/stiffness numbers for braided SS hose?

This issue comes up frequently in stress analysis because some owners like to use SS braided hose as flexibility isolation at pump suction and discharge flanges. But with no stiffness values, I can't qualify/justify the use of the hose by analysis, which leaves us to either using judgment to proclaim the system as flexible enough, or else going to a bellows expansion joint that has published stiffnesses.

Clearly "stiffness" will vary by supplier, internal pressure and orientation of the flexible.

Very interesting article - note the issue about orientation along the axis of a pump.

Unless you have your pipe as a large U shape loop or able to move freely in an axial fashion, this type of hose can lock up or rapidly increase in stiffness.

Hence it is not as simple as having a bellows or a flexible hose - each is different and needs to be designed differently to best use its own properties.
