I want to purchase X number of Unigraphics NX licenses. What is the minimum number to purchase of UG NX that I can have Floating licenses on (1) server that can be remotely used from my Engineers in other parts of the country? Thank you!

The answer is simple, 1.
You're best to use the term bundle instead of license. The best value for purchasing NX is buy a bundle which packages together functionality at a cheaper cost rather than buying the individual features (like solid modeling, translators, drafting .etc).
IN terms of the licensing/how they can be used, there are node locked and floating bundles. My recollection is there are 3 node locked, the rest are floating.

There's no restriction on the minimum number of bundles you can buy, so you could buy 1 bundle only to do what you want.
The choice of how many you need, would be determined by the number of concurrent users you will have using NX at any point in time. So if you have to have 3 users working on NX at the same time, buy 3 bundles.

In that example, the license you would buy would be a license file which contains 3 'floating' bundles Your license server would have a license file, coded to serve out 3 floating bundles (of whatever type you need) to the users.

Didn't Siemens switch to bundles only? (with "add-ons" if needed). As far as I know it isn't possible anymore to buy separate floating licenses.

@NutAce

No they didn't. Preference is bundles because it's usually better value for money, but our pricebook still shows the older separate items like UG10100 Gateway, so you can still buy thm if needed.

@PhoeNX

I thought this was only valid for existing Customers still using the old Floating Licenses. To my best knowledge new Customers won't have that option.

According to the Siemens pricebook I have access to, there is no restriction that I can see. Usually products that can only be purchased by an existing customer will have a pre-requisite or appear in a different area of the book. UG10100 Gateway has no restriction of any kind ( I just checked), but then that may only apply to Aus/NZ where we operate.
