I would like to remove a steel support beam in my basement.
The girder is made up of 3 2x10 beams screwed together. It also has a 2x4 screwed to the bottom of each side that
is being used as a ledger for the floor joists which are spaced at 1 foot on center. The roof of the home is made up of a manufactured truss system. There is a long hallway wall that is directly above this girder. If I remove this beam it would make the span from the outside block wall to the interior 2x6 wall that the girder sits on 12ft. Can anyone tell me if that span would be to large? Thank You, First time poster.
