Floor sheathing not T&G

Repairing an existing floor that has carpet glued directly to a single layer of 9/16" sheathing that does not have tongue and groove edges. We will be specifying a thin set underlayment product be used to cover the sheathing but are still concerned about the unsupported joints. We cannot install blocking or clips because of existing circumstances and wondered if there was a clip that could be installed from the top surface. Or has anyone use fiber mesh tape in the thin set to reinforce these a joints?

If your space permits, consider a second layer of sheathing (15/32") stagering the seam.

Nail some 2x4's or?? underneath the joints if you are worried.

Hope you are not planning on tiling this floor. NOT thick enough.

I would recommend 19/32 T&G, staggering the seam, if possible.

There are "z" clips that can be installed from the top side. It takes two z-clips, turned opposite, to give support.

The 9/16" is not typically used in flooring application and never for tile. MS^2 is right with 19/32 T&G if u have room, I was trying thinking of reducing the build up height when you are adding the sheathing, thinset underlayment and tile.

Additionally consider using latex modified thin set and grout as they allows more movement before cracking.
