I need to design a valve which has a linear relationship between flowrate Q and plug displacement X. Due to the application, the valve must be integral to the entire mechanism.

Can you recommend any specific design materials which will help with the particular design of the valve?

Any other suggestions?

Thank You.

If you are talking about design or selecting a flow liquid control valve in which the control mechanism, i.e, the actuator gives a flow linear relationship with the stroke/stem, you can post your email address and I will send you an article that will give you a very good insight/understanding on liquid control valve selection.

If you are talking of another thing, then I do not have solution to your problem.

There is no harm in asking.

Mucour!

Do you have details of such a valve? Three years back I did a lot of search and finally ended up with a steam control valve with a PID control of process temperature.
(I could find no linearly functioning valve)

If so please detail me.

Regards,

Check Fisher Rosemount website. You can do a search.

A globe valve with the right calibrated actuator should be able to give you a linear relationship function.

There is no harm in asking.

I do not know what to e-mail to you. Becaue I do not get the impression that you do not know how to size liquid control valves.

Go to for the valve selection.

An ED or ET body valve should work.

I think this is more of a class design project than a real world application because of the use of 'design a valve' rather than select a valve.

Therefore, i suspect the poster is looking for more information on valve design, something he isn't going to get from manufacturer's web sites.

A relief valve is very different from a control valve with linear characteritics.

Best regards

Design1,

I have sent a write-up to your email address that explains the process of sizing liquid control valves.

Your posting was confusing at first so it was difficult to know how to assist you.
