Hi there .
I was wondering if you can help me with the connection of signal 4-20 MA output from a KROHNE IFC 020 flow transmitter to an analog input card of PLC because i beleieve that the wiring diagramm in KROHNE manual is wrong. The analog input should be treated as 4-wire.
Thank you very much for your time.

Unless I'm missing something the 4-20mA analog out from the flowmeter---->to PLC should be a two wires (I) & (I+).

Power up the meter. Measure the voltage on the 4-20ma output terminals. If the voltage is above 24vdc then yes. You would connect it as a 4 wire to the plc card. If not you will have to use the loop power from the plc.

What kind of PLC are you using?

Just checked the website. It appears they do not make a 24vdc powered signal converter for the 020 model. So it is most likely a 4 wire connection.

Good luck! Let me know how you made out

You need to have an isolated 4-20ma input module at the PLC. Connect the PLC A/I + connection to d2 (I+) and PLC A/I - point to d4 (I). If your PLC has only A/I module with common connection you will have to use signal insolator between the Krohne and the PLC.
See the IFC 020 Connection diagram at:

Page 12.
The point is that the Flow transmitter is controlling the 4-20ma output by the (-) connection and most PLC A/I modules does not like it...
