Fluorescent Ballast

I have heard the there is a manufacture that produces a Fluorescent light bulb that has a self contained Ballast.
Meaning that the ballast is contained entirely with in the confines of bulb it self.
Does anyone have any information on such a product? If so, I would appreciate any information on it.

Most of the lamp manufacturers make what is called a self-ballasted compact fluorescent lamp. They range from 5W to 50W and about 200-3000 lumens. All fit a standard light socket (Edison base) here in the US.

The type of lamps you are interested in are not available with an integral ballast.

of a completely self contained Fluorescent lamp, however it is only about 20" or so. I'm looking for 3' & 4' lengths, in T-5 and T-8. Charles S. Parnell

I checked the web site. This appears to be a fixture that uses a very small, 1/4" diameter, fluorescent tube. This fixture has a built in ballast, so you can connect it directly to 120V.

For me a lamp is just the fluorescent tube. This is a fluorescent lighting fixture. Let me see what I can find commercially like this. Alkco is one company that comes to mind.
