Is FM-200 approved for use at USAF (Air Forec) facilities? What is the reference?

UFC 3-600-01 (26 Sept 2006 edition) paragraph 4-11 states that clean agents must comply with NFPA 2001, which as far as I know FM-200 complies with.

Remember that the space must also be fully sprinklered in addition to the FM-200 system. Most commonly as a pre-action system.

Been looking and searching all day, found the one I had forgotten, ETL 94-6, (change1), paragraph 4.3 answers it for me.

And no, FM-200 is not allowed in AF facilities.

Good to know. I had not seen that ETL before. Does that mean that they only allow pre-action systems?

Correct........the only system that would be allowed for installation today would be a pre-action.

Got to looking a little more and it appears that an Intergen brand system may comply with air force's criteria. Also looked at the other ETLs and saw that ETL 01-18 has similar wording to ETL 94-6. (and is 7 years newer)

FROM ETL 01-18
7.6. Prohibited Fire Suppression Systems. The following fire suppression systems will not be installed in any electronic equipment spaces:
• Halogenated agent systems
• Carbon dioxide (CO2) systems
• Dry-pipe water sprinkler systems
Note: Pre-action type sprinkler systems may be installed in some facilities as described in this ETL; however, use of pre-action type sprinkler systems is generally discouraged because of maintenance and reliability concerns.
Note: Several of the most common commercially available gaseous-agent systems are classified as HFC or PFC clean extinguishing agents. Significant questions have been
raised about the appropriateness of continued use of these agents due to atmospheric lifetime and global warming potential. Other commercially available gaseous agents
have no known adverse environmental impact.
