FM transmitter simulation

One way to simulate (with ADS for example) FM transmitter is to make a transient simulation. The problem with this is the long time consumed. What is the correct way of doing this? Envelope, HB or what? I want to see how well my transmitter oscillator is working and also the output spectrum as well as the detected audio output.
