I had a folder on my desktop with a number of spring part files. Using the Parts Wizard I downloaded a number of these spring files to Toolbox. I realized I don't want to have the Spring Folder (the folder that holds all these spring part files) sitting on my desktop.... and it should probably be located at C:\progam files\common files\solidworks data\browser (which seems to be where all the other part files for Toolbox are locaed)..... The problem is when I move the spring folder from the desktop to the browser folder location... the springs no longer show up in Toolbox.

How can I move this folder to C:\progam files\common files\solidworks data\browser.... I somehow have to redirect the path...but not sure where to find that information.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Two things to try:

1) Check the "toolbox.ini" file under the "Toolbox" folder under your SolidWorks loadpoint. Make sure it points to the location you are expecting.

2) Using the menus, go into "Toolbox / Browser Configuration / Catalog" and make sure the parts you want are in the list, and that they are enabled for display in the browser.

thank you for the reply, PDMAmin.

I looked at the file "toolbox.ini" and the path does lead to the browser folder located in the solidworks data folder, where the parts located in Toolbox are located. But again, the problem is when I move that folder that is holding all the part files for the springs that now sits on the desktop... when I move that to the location noted in the toolbox.ini .... those springs no longer show up in Toolbox. The only thing that shows up in toolbox (after that spring file is moved) are the outline squares where the part bitmap image should show up and the name of the part. If I move that spring folder back onto the desktop, then the springs show up again in Toolbox. I'm looking to move that spring file off the desk top and move it to the location with all the other Toolbox parts.

Could you please be more specific when you say "Using the menus, go into "Toolbox / Browser Configuration / Catalog" and make sure the parts you want are in the list, and that they are enabled for display in the browser". I opened the Toolbox "Configure Browser" window but don't see where or how I can redirect that spring file.

Thanks.

Are the springs in the TB parts you added to your TB?

If they are then because your moving the TB folder. You will lose the Previews of the files you added manually. You will have to re-add them to your TB.

Thanks for the reply Scott.... what I wound up doing was going to tools>options>data options and editing the toolbox parts, namely all the springs. I was able to delete all the springs that were in the Spring folder on the desktop and move them to a new spring folder located in the Browser folder, where they should be (with all the other toolbox part files).......and then reloading them all into Toolbox. Worked fine.

Thanks again.
