Dear Folks;

Heres a simple question. Is there a quick way to reset font size and arrow within your drawing in SW2004 ?

I know I can use options to change each of the different text entities individually. I set my text height at 1/8", I use 3/16" for Section Mark lettering and for Titles. But what if I want my arrow length to match the 1/8" text height?

It seems you have to manually adjust arrow height, length and width and reproportion your whole arrow just to make it match the text height. Is there a simpler way ?

Also, when placing a section line through the center of a cylinder, I have to delete all the center marks so that I can relate the line to the center point of the cylinder. That makes my section work out just fine but now I try to add back in the original center marks but they just wont show up. How come ?

As allways, I thank everyone for their kind advice

It sound like you need to spend a little time and get your standards established. This is what you need to do.

First – create a drawing and modify it so that it does everything you want. All of the settings that you are looking for can be found in the Tools/Options/Document Properties Tab. Take your time and print/plot each drawing to be sure that what you have is what you want.

Next – do a File/Save Sheet Format. This will create a SldDrt file – which is a template for the Page. You can replace the current sheet format in any drawing with a RMB/Properties. This allows you to quickly change drawing sizes and to apply changes to your drawing layout – including everything you mentioned and more. When you do, all of the dimensions/text/notes/etc in the drawing will be shown as defined by the new sheet format. I.E. Small hollow arrows before / Large solid arrows after.

If you create multiple page drawings and not everything is repeated on each page (perhaps only the first page has Notes or ECO data) you will want to create a Slddrt file for each sheet. My list of saved sheets is:
1 Page B-Size / 2 Page B-Size
1 Page C-Size / 2 Page C-Size
1 Page D-Size / 2 Page D-Size

Now do a SaveAs and change the file type box to Drawing Templates (*.DrwDot). This creates the Templates you see when you create a New Drawing. I use the same names as above - it just seems simpler. Add a second sheet to your drawing and select the second sheet that you just created. Do another SaveAs/Drawing Templates for a multi-page drawing. I don’t extend the multi-page idea any further than this. At one point I did have 4 or 5 Page Drawing Templates but I found that the amount of time necessary to create them was not worth the time gained in doing so. I rarely – if ever – estimated correctly and I constantly had to add or delete sheets anyway.

Center Marks – Instead of deleting them, have you tried to use the browser instead? I am assuming that the cylinder that you are trying to dimension is based on the origin – so select the parts origin in the browser when applying your mate.
