FONTS IN NOTES: INSPECTION DIMENSION SYMBOL 1

I need to add the inspection dimension symbol to
my notes on a regular basis. Currently, I make a
mock dimension, change it to an inspection dim, and drag
it "behind" my notes until it lines up with where
I want it. I know how to add many types of symbols using
the "add symbol" in SolidWorks notes, or using the
character map, or changing to a font such as AA_techfont
or Wingdings, etc...

But does anyone know which font, if any, contains the
inspection symbol?

Thanks

can you post a picture to show what you want to do. I'm not understanding why you are putting the inspection dimension within your notes if the dimension is already part of your model view.

We use the "KEY" Symbol that solidworks has and indicate in the notes that the symbol denotes key charteristics/inspection points.

In SW2005 I believe you can add various borders to selected text in notes (similar to dimensions).

The "key" symbol is correct and a good tip.

Where I work they want to use a note like the following:

4. DIMENSIONS DENOTED BY REQUIRE CALIBRATION

In this note, the " "(blank area) is where I would
drag a dimension (without text and without dimension or
extension lines) and change the dimension to an inspection
dimension which sort of looks like (_____) (The top bar is
missing)

4. DIMENSIONS DENOTED BY (_____) REQUIRE CALIBRATION

Thanks

Have you tried to create a sketch instead of using the dimension with no text?

How about making a block containing the sketch of your symbol and text. This will keep everything together. Even if you had to edit the block it would still be a time saver.

If you go to Program Files\Solidworks\lang\english you will find a file named Gtol.sym. Open this in Wordpad and make a copy in case of errors. Add the following to the Modifying Symbols :
*IB,Inspection Box
A,ARC .5,.5,.60,90.,270
A,LINE .5,-.1,2,-.1
A,LINE .5,1.1,2,1.1
A,ARC 2,.5,.60,270,90
Then close SW and reopen. Voila! there is your inspection symbol for notes. I think that you'll have to add this to all your seats, and I'm not sure if it will email correctly, so maybe you should check on that.
I also have this symbol with text in it for use on tabulated drawings that require a plain text note underneath, because the inspection box shifts to the second line when you try to create an inspection letter.
You can also rearrange the symbols to correspond with frequency of use.
