I was reading the post about FontFactory (post mid december 2009). I tried it but it doesn't work for what i'm trying to do. we have a font called ugphilfont (with *.fnt extension and FontFactory doesn't accept it)with a lot of custom symbols, now i want to ad the roughness symbols to it. Like machined/undefined/unmachined etc. We have unused combinations $5 $6 and so on for it. But i can't manage to convert the symbols to the *.fnt style, see screen shot. I need to convert the symbols to the LM LD coordinates.

How do i do this?

Why do you say that FontFactory doesn't accept your font with the .fnt extension? I have no problem opening fonts with an .fnt extension. Are you saying you get an error or it just doesn't work? BTW, .fnt format is the 'source' and must be converted to .fnx to actually be usable as a font, which of course FontFactory will help you do.

John , i gett an error on it, see screen shot. The fonts that are in C:\...\NX4\UGII\ugfonts folder are accessable. I tried copying the FontFactory.exe to the ugfonts folder, i placed the ugfontc.exe and libsys.dll together with the executable in one folder, no succes. I must admit that i'm a user with restricted rights, no admin rights , maybey this is causing the error?

What i'm trying to do is this : we have i titleblock program in NX4 that works with a grip program, since we're going to switch to NX6 and TCE 8 unified in a few months were are re-writing the titleblock program to a .net app. It's a combination of three things, first a conversion from the old titleblock attributes to the new one (like material description , treatment, etc) then we run a frame program which determines the drawing size and drawing pattern. And at last the titleblock program itself, in the past the symbols for material roughness where just curves, but now we want them to synchronise them with TCE and thus they need to be in some font, because they're in a pull downmenu in the titleblock program.
Maybey there's another solution?

Try putting the 'ugfontc.exe' and 'libsys.dll' files in the NX font folder itself, not necessarily where the 'FontFactory.exe' is located.

i've tried it, still nothing, could it be that the libsys.dll also must be available in my system32 folder of windows itself?

i've added our ugphilfont.fnx maybey you can try for yourself to see if it works.

When I attempt to open your font file I get the same error that you're getting. However, I can open any other font in my library with no problems, so despite the wording of the error message, I suspect that the problem is in the font file itself. I will forward a copy of the file to the guy who wrote FontFactory and see what he has to say. If I learn anything, I'll pass it along.

Sorry for the delay but I finally got some information back about the problem with your font file. It appears that there was a problem with two of your special characters. For some reason the NX utilities used to convert an NX font file so that it could be loaded into FontFactory did not like two of your special characters, the ones with the assigned names of '$#' and '$*', so they had to be removed.

Attached is a repaired version of the font file.
