Hello,

First time on here.

In my past I was a Project Engineer for conventional Oil and Gas facilities and pipelines. Of course I am well versed in codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, CSA Z-662, API 650 etc. that are applicable to the oil and gas industry.

I got asked to help a friend design a small plant that will process food grade products, this is on the side of my normal job.

Does anybody know what codes and standards I would use for food processing plant design? I have no experience in this industry so I am hoping someone can help.

Please note I live in Canada.

Thanks

It is a Hodge-podge of rules.
Often B31.2 is the basis with the addition of maybe A-3 or in some cases BPE depending on the equipment.
In general things start with 316L (with controlled S levels) With specific surface finish.
Sanitation, draining, and other issues are a big deal.
A lot of this depends on who you are designing for, many of the big companies have their own design handbook.
