Footing reinforcement 1

Has anyone designed a footing with wire reinforcement? I have a very small moment to design for but a relatively wide footing (for overturning/sliding) and would like to give the builder some cost effective options. At first glance, I do not see problem with this.

Without meaning to sound flippant, if ACI allowed wire reinforcement for footings, I'm sure that that the Wire Reinforcement Institute would be "shouting it from the rooftops"... they are not. There is no mention of footings in their "Structural Welded Wire Reinforcement Manual of Standard Practice" at this link

Other than using the proper reinforcing steel, an option may be to make the footing thick enough that no reinforcement is needed at all.

Thank you for the resource Slide. I understand that one would need an open mind to consider this option and expected some static. Could anyone show where you COULD NOT use WWR as designed reinforcement? I have gone through ACI318 and have not seen anything specifically stating that you need to use bars for design or can not use WWR. Personally, I do not like the use of plain footings. I have seen too many get damaged and covered up during construction. Having minimum steel, although not required, does in my opinion provide a better quality product with room for error.
