Hi,

I'm wondering, is the attraction force between a steel plate and a magnet equal or less than the force between two magnets that are identical?
The force X between to magnets should be greater, because of the dipoles that are attracting each other. I agree that a steel plate's dipole will aline itself to the magnet's field, but would that mean the steel plate will have a pole strength = to that magnet?
