Hi everyone,

I have a gas engine that should be equipped with an exhaust gas boiler. How can I choose the most favorable type boiler between forced circulation and natural circulation boiler, when I have around 0.01 kg/s mass flow of the exhaust gas from 600°C exhaust gas temperature. Do anyone have some guidance or calculation step to determine design of exhaust gas boiler? A lot of thanks for your response.

Sincerely,

Hafidh

A question like this, means it's time to bail out, and call someone else in to do the design and engineering. Call in the experts.

And another question ... Why bother? At the flow rate that you are talking about, the amount of heat recovery that you are going to get is pretty small. Someone needs to work out the economics before they do any more engineering. In my world, a project that won't recover the cost of doing it in a foreseeable timeframe, doesn't get done.

..so I gather that's about an 8-10 bkW engine, which means you're probably looking at a combined heat and power setup for home use? If so, why not go with a packaged solution (I'm sure there are some available in europe)?
