I'm looking for information and descriptions of the maths for calculating the forces required to permanantly bend tubing using a fixed die and rolling wiper. Anyone have any suggestions for this metallurgist who's a bit out of his element?

I can post a schematic of the machine in a bit if that will help.

hi

Couldn't find specific formula for tube bending but found this for sheet metal bending which is different:-

what you need to do is find the plastic bending moment formula for the tube in question from which you can estimate the force required to bend the tube.

Another article on plastic bending of beams:-

You can also refer to some strength of material college textbooks such as Singer and find info. on tube bending, not necessarily on the forces and torques required to bend tube but on springback after bending.
