Forging reduction ratio of plate " threefold"

Our company is buying forging material produced in Germeny. In their material certification, they listed reduction ratio for the as-rolled plate as "threefold". In the US, we use the reductin ratio as 3:1, 5:1 etc.
Does anyone have experience in the terminology Germen use?
Does threefold mean 3:1?
