My work is using Solidworks 2008, I am trying to use forming tools on a sheet metal part. When I try to "drag and drop" the forming tool, Solidworks shows message: "Are you making a derived part?" Basically, I can not get the forming tools to work. Any help is appreciated.

Right click on the Forming Tools folder in the Design Library, and select Forming Tools Folder.

For some mystical reason, SW chose the setting which disables the feature to be the default.

Thank u for the soon help, It works as your guide, I think it more like a bug without set it in enable default. Similiar problems have more in forming tools. For example, when i unfold a sheetmetal with counter sink emboss, the hole can't be unfolded at all.I have to calculate the punch hole size to send the drawing to progamming. Do you have any idea about it? Thank u again.

That is normal. SolidWorks is not capable of flattening forms created by forming tools.
