I’m looking to use trigonometry functions in a formula to get a result dimension. I did a quick example of what I’m referring to as a .pdf which is attached.



I also tried putting a simple trig function in a formula for a dimension to see if it would give me the correct result and it didn’t work so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong (I put the TAN(45) as the formula for a dimension which should be 1 but it came out to be some long drawn out number not even close to 1.)

Any help on this would be appreciated.

try tan(45deg) otherwise it may be trying to use radians.

also I think it will return a number in meters and not inches, so it should be 1, but it will return 39.37.

Slaen - always use the units. tan is looking for angles add deg behind the number. if you are setting up the formula to use parameters, make the parameter an angle. Lengths use mm, in... If you get stuck for the unit, check tools -- options -- parameters - units.
