Dear All member,

I have a question about foundation bolt,I just started to use pvelite software, i notice that i could only calculate the bolt size required for the foundation bolt using pvelite, can any member tell me that is there a way to know the length of the foundation bolt required? I had been checking with the pressure vessel manual by dennis moss but didn't able to gain anything from it. Hope dear forum member can help.

Thanks in advance for reply.

The length of foundation bolts required is a function of the foundation design. PV Elite will provide the loadings for consideration in design of the foundation, but you will need to separately design that outside of PV Elite.

Dear John,

Thanks for your reply,
Can you tell me what kind of design is for the length of foundation bolt? Is there a code or manual that i could refer to? I really appreciate your help in this matter.

Regards,

Generally, embedment of the anchor bolts would be per ACI-318 Appendix D and would be part of the foundation design.
The length of the bolts may be determined based on concrete breakout strength, etc., or may be set to overlap with vertical steel in the foundation, or may be increased for easy of placement. Check with the foundation designer.

Dear JStephen,
