I NEED TO DESIGN A FOUNDATION FOR A 60 TON HYDRAULIC PRESS USED FOR CUTTUNG FABRIC SHEETS. TO TOTAL WEIGHT OF THE MACHINE IS 17,000 LBS.

ARE THERE ANY GUIDE LINES ON DESIGNING THIS TYPE FOUNDATIONS.

CAN ANYBODY GIVE ME A RECOMMENDATION ON HOW TO APPROACH THIS PROJECT.

YOUR HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANK YOU.

Hire a foundation engr and geotech engr. If the foundation moves at all the cutter will not work smoothly. May bind, hesitate. These machines can cause lots of damage to the employees working with it. It may also cut the material wrong. Then the problems compound through whatever process the cloth goes through. Then too the machine itself costs a few bucks.

Machine foundation design is really a specialty. The foundation is usually only a fraction of the cost of the machine, yet if designed incorrectly it can damage the entire machine and cost multiple thousands of dollars to fix or replace.

Get as much loading information from the machine manufacturer as possible and provide that to your geotech and foundation consultants.

Don't forget the dynamic forces - the machine's weight is only a part of the problem. And ask the consultants for a list of their prior relevant experience -
