FOUNDATION IN ALBEMARLE RIVER 1

I am designing a small pier and gazeebo that will extend out into the Albemarle River down near the coast of NC. I don't have any experience of coastal design. I need to get FEMA 55 as a starting point. What other reference materials do I need to educate myself on Coastal design.

Any thoughts on whether it is even worth my time to do this project since I will probably not ever do much coastal work in the future? Is there alot to learn?
