Hello,
can anybody tell me how to convert rpm of a motor to fpm of a conveyor. the motor is a 3 phase, 220 v rated for 1800 rpm at 60 HZ, and the conveyor is going at 60 fpm with a 30:1 gear box. I was wodering how the value of 60 fpm was derived. the conveyor has a 4" end drive on it (if it helps). Thanks

With a 30:1 reduction, the pulley is spinning at 60 rpm. The circumfrence of the pulley is 4" x pi(3.14159...) or 12.5" ~ 1 ft. Every time the pulley spins in moves the belt 1 ft. It spins 60 times a minute, 60fpm.

The speeds are directly proportional.
Double the speed of the motor and you double the speed of the conveyor.
The motor turns at 1800rpm.
This is reduced through a gearbox to 60rpm.
The circumference of the end drive is about 1 foot (4" X pi) and so a point on that moves through 60 feet per minute. As the belt moves at that speed it alos move at 60 feet per minute.
