Dear all,
I have a question on the crack-tip displacement field in Mode 1 loading.
This is usually given by an equation of the form:

u_ij=K/G * f(r,theta)

where u_ij are the displacement components, K the SIF and G the shear modulus. My question is regarding this modulus, does the presence of a crack not influence the shear modulus of the material, and as such shouldn't this formula be updated?

Many thanks for anyone who can shed some light on this for me.

the crack doesn't change material properties, the crack affects the displacements of the object.
