Hello guys

I am trying to simulate a tensile test for 304 stainless steel flat specimen 50mm gauge length in ABAQUS. I have already done it experimentally in the lab using universal testing machine and now I have stress Vs. strain graph.

The problem now is I need to find fracture strain Vs. stress triaxiality for 304 stainless steel ( at any strain rate ) to use it in ABAQUS to set Damage initiation criteria. does anyone knows where to find these data or how produce them ?

Thank you

Metal failure isn't my specialty (far from it, in fact) but, if I may venture a guess, I'd say you need to pick a damage model and calibrate its parameters against experimental data.

I wish that I could point you to a publication that explains the background, but such a document is still in preparation. Therefore, I would suggest that you refer to the rules in ASME Section VIII, Division 2, paragraph 5.3.3.

If anyone else has a good reference other than that, I'd be very happy to know it myself.
