Does anybody have any references to fracture toughness data for Ductile (Nodular) cast irons?
The only one I have been able to find so far is:
Bradley and Srinivasan, International Materials Review
Vol 35, No 3, 1990

Toby - thank you - I should have clarified that I have lots of data on austempered ductile iron and am searching for inforamtion on as-cast and "conventional" heat treated ductile iron, however several of the references look promising and I will check further.

Some of the research workers in this area were GNJ Gilbert, Cox, (perhaps from Swansea University, BCIRA researchers, If you could get books edited by H D Merchant, Lux, Minkoff etc on Metallurgy of cast irons you could get most of the references.

I have reprints of most of these, if you need and find it difficult to get any of the above references please let me know. I could consider sending them to you.

arunrao - do you have any data specific to annealed ductile iron?

Yes there are works on annealed ductile iron with 100% ferritic matrix. Please give me a day's time to go to my office and refer as I have just returned after a tour to the middle east.

Also one of my friend, has worked on fracture toughness properties of sand cast and permanent molded castings. I shall try and give his email id too.
