EPRI report 5036 is the Power Plant Electrical Reference Series. It has some very good reference material assembled for power plant engineers and has some very detailed and practical info about motors. There series used to cost $25,000 for non-EPRI members, but now is available publically for free.

The items listed below are well worth a look for people that work with maintenance, rewind and testing of large fixed-speed induction motors (imo).

V6 = Electric Motors (overview)

V16 = Handbook to Assess the Insulation Condition of Large Rotating Machines

V17 = Guide for Rewinding and Reconditioning Medium Voltage Electric Motors

Note about similar published books:

V6 is by Richard Nailen, the author of book "Managing Motors"
V16 is by Greg Stone, Ian Culbert and others. Authors of the book "Electrical Insulation for Rotating Machines"

The EPRI content is similar to the books, although the books have a little more (maybe the authors hold back some of their best stuff to make their book worthwhile). If you have the books, don't bother to download those particular EPRI document.

But this one (NP7502) I tend to think is widely known info… not particularly unique.
In contrast, V16 and V17 linked above have info you won't easily find many other places.

I used to get free EPRI reports by entering the subject in the search window of EPRI site. You will get a long list of all EPRI reports on the topic. The free reports will have a blue patch with DOWNLOAD in white at top right. Click to download those free reports.
 
Yes, absolutely. There is a lot more available on that site, including a lot more motor stuff. The search is a little klunky at times... a lot of stuff to wade through. Some of it useful, some of it just not as much.

Just one example" If you go to and search ...
turn insulation capability of large ac motors
...you get two volumes EL-5862-V1, V2 that at the time they were published were state of the art research.
Now available for free download.
Lots of experimental results and theoretical analysis.
Volume 2, Appendix 3c has a "simplified" means for estimating the turn to turn voltage stress for a given motor in response to a given voltage pulse... suitable for "straightforward" spreadsheet calculation (Table 1 and 2). I know a respectable motor rewind shop engineer who uses this tool as part of his evaluation comparing rewind options. Have not tried to program it myself yet, maybe one of these days.
