There are several old structural engineering books free for download on google books, I mean very old, because the copyright has expired. Lots of rivet info and such. Click download at the top right side of the book preview screen. If you don't like the structural books you might find some other topic on there.

haynewp - Man - that's addicting!

Thanks for the link.

I know I was looking at some physics books today from the 17th and 18th centuries.

pre-relativity pro-Newtonian and what's a quantum, eh?

Haynewp,
I can't find the download tab in my screen. Can you please help me in this?

Not all the books are downloadable. Those that are have a "download" in the upper right hand corner.

thanks for the link. JAE's correct. That's addicting!

A search for 'Civil Engineering' seems to yield more donwloadable books.

There is even one called:

"Rudimentary Dictionary of Terms Used in Architecture, Civil, Architecture, Naval, Building and Archaeology"

This might be a good link next time someone posts looking for a dictionary...

The "Mechanics for Millrights" looks like a good read with an opening line like this...

What is Matter? We cannot tell; no created being knows
