free software for drafting

i am looking for a free software for electrical/instrumentation diagrams drafting. the software should run on a laptop and preferably should be available for download from the net.

I'll second the recommendation for DraftSight. If you know AutoCad or AutoCad LT, you will be up and running with DraftSight immediately.
