Hello Everybody,
when creating surfaces using Freestyle workbench, all surfaces lose their associativity with their curves, and appear as datum surfaces although i have switched off 'create datum' option from tools dashboard.
Is there an option to maintain associativity between curves and surfaces in freestyle workbench?

Thanks in advance.

Freestyle curves, by nature, do not need to be associative. You can modify any kind of curve or surface with freestyle, even if it's "dumb". (reordering, re-segmenting, etc) Additionally, you can extract any number of isoparms to re-build said surface.

If you want purely mathematical control of the geometry, Freestyle isn't really the proper workbench. Not to divert your question, but there isn't really a need for parametrics in Freestyle. And as far as I know, there isn't an option, either.

Thanks solid7,
i noticed that some of the surfacing features in freestyle are associative (Revolve,NetSurface, style sweep, freestyle fill) while some are not. (Blend, offset, extrapolate, extrude).
so whats the benefit of modeling in freestyle workbench? isn't this problematic? building datum surfaces and associative surfaces on top of each other? after changing associative surfaces and curves, everything falls apart.

Yes, there are some functions that have parametric results. I don't know why, or what they're used for. (although I guess it may come in handy for other workbenches - such as KnowledgeWare or Shape Morphing) Most of my freeform work has no requirement for any sort of parametrics, and can be worked with just as easily without it.

Just so you don't get too wrapped up in it - It is entirely possible to work with dumb surfaces and curves in FreeStyle with no issue. (for the most part, anyway)
