How are freeway bridges built? Any step by step explanation is there?

Planning, site studies, geological studies, proposals, estimates, selection process, contract award ... then comes the dirty work.

Old joke: How do you eat an elephant? Answer: One bite at a time. So I assume that's the reference there.
From watching, it appears that the crews swing by about once a month and throw up another bit of concrete and after 5 or 10 years, the project is complete.
But it occurs to me that Google and Youtube might be helpful for answering the question, which is rather broad.

there was an old Dr.Dobb's Journal article titled "Eating an Elephant" about 30 years ago... several months of programming for the IBM Common User Access/Interface.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

In my neck of the woods and likely elsewhere it is because a certain politician needs to win more votes in a particular area and so decides the a shiny new freeway is needed.

That politician then engages the transport planners to prove that the new freeway is a necessary piece of infrastructure. If the first analysis doesn't come up with this conclusion then that study is hidden away and new analysis is done until the suitable conclusion is reached.

Once this messy process is done there is normally a grand announcement of sorts than emphasises the reduced travel times and the large number of jobs to be created all while not costing very much.

Eventually a few engineers get involved and it is realised that some river/valley/rail line/road is in the way of the planned freeway. Thus a bridge is required. (Sure a tunnel could be used but by this stage the engineers are already telling the politicians that the project cost is 50% more than what was announced.)

An so we get to the final stage where a few engineers through a design together and a few dozen guys in workwear pour concrete for months/years and a bridge is finished.
